The Balance Act

Remember the tetter-totter? One person on each end. If one pushes up, the other goes down. Or if both are the same weight, the tetter-toter is balanced.

Generally, most people are out of balance in their favor. Most of their life is spent for themselves and their family.

But there are those out-of-balance types that have the opposite problem. To the detriment of themselves and their loved ones, they give excessively to others.

Only you can determine what is balanced for you. Be aware of your needs and the needs of your loved ones. Are you meeting your personal needs and the needs of those closest to you?

Are your relationships strong and healthy or is there resentment because you are missing too often?

Be aware. Talk to those closest to you. Always be checking that the tetter-totter is level.

Thanks For What?

As I think of those who are suffering, I wonder what they have to be thankful for.

Think about the worst situation you have read, watched, or heard about. Imagine that was your life. Amongst that pain, could you find something to be thankful for? Although it would be difficult, I believe you could.

But why should you?

It is scientifically proven that positive mental attitudes are beneficial in many ways. Simply put, you’ll feel better and do better.

Now back to your life. More than likely, you are not in a catastrophically horibble, life-threatening situation, not knowing if you will be alive tomorrow. Sure, you probably have some problems to deal with, but being thankful will put your life and those problems in their proper perspective.

So be thankful. It’s the best way to live life.
