How many encounters in your life have you avoided because you were afraid he or she might laugh at you, smirk at you, say something condescending, give you an odd look, etc?
In a perfect world, we would all have mental or emotional connections with everyone we came in contact with. Obviously, that will never happen. So is the solution to avoid encounters? Yes, for some that is their answer. Possibly they are too wounded from previous conflicts to take a risk.
But wounds can heal. Try not to let the past control your future actions. Sometimes the best healer is success. Continue interacting. Focus on the other person’s interests and needs and build trust. Find commonality. Show interest.
Simply put, caring about others will give you a higher likelihood of acceptance.
In those situations were rejection does happen, self talk will do wonders. I will cover that in another post.
